Community Fund

Fleet Factors Community Fund Scheme

We have established our Community Fund to provide a means to raise money through employee events directly supported by contributions from Fleet Factors and our key suppliers. Our aim is to arrange various activities for staff to participate in throughout the year, raising money for selected charities or community projects. Our aim is to support multiple charities, within the communities local to our depot sites, across the UK. In addition to our employees being able to nominate charities or events for support from the community fund our customers will also be able to apply to the fund for direct support of projects that are important to them, and which align with our own corporate social values.

Environmental Work

We are conscious of the need to minimise our impact on the environment as much as possible. To avoid the potential for ‘greenwashing’ our Board took the decision to be more proactively involved in our carbon offsetting. To date, we have planted 8,000 trees within the Northeast region and created a large wildlife pond to encourage wildlife diversity in the area. Wherever possible we have also created green spaces at our main depots to provide staff with somewhere quiet to take a moment, recharge and enjoy any wildlife that shares the area with us.
Fleet Factors have developed a Carbon Action Plan (CAP) identifying ways in which we can work to reduce both our own and our clients’ carbon impact. Our aim is to reduce the level of resources that we use each year by educating our employees, increasing the levels of reuse and recycling within the business, moving to renewable energy sources wherever possible, improving our vehicle fleet and reducing its emissions as well as being actively involved as a responsible supply chain member. Our commitment to this is demonstrated by our ISO 14001 accreditation.

Work Experience and placements

Fleet Factors offer work experience placements to students at schools, colleges, and a local university as part of our community education programme. We recognise the importance of providing real-world work experiences to as many people as possible.

Volunteering

We encourage employees to voluntarily participate with their (or our) chosen charities allowing them the time to do so if that occurs during work hours.

Apprentices

We aim to employ at least one apprentice within each of our main depot branches across the county.

Social Enterprise

Employment of ex-offenders

We already work within client partnerships concerned with the rehabilitation and reintegration of ex-offenders back into society. Accordingly, Fleet Factors does not discriminate against the employment of ex-offenders recognising the benefits that positive training, regular reviews and individual support can provide to someone who may have spent time outside of a working environment.

Adult work experience placements

Working with local authority clients and their employment hubs Fleet Factors are happy to provide work experience placements for adults looking to return to or enter the workplace to aid their personal development and career prospects.
