Roary’s Bike Ride

On Wednesday 19th of April two of our colleagues took on Roarys Bike Ride to raise money for the Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation via the Fleet Factors Community Fund.

Fleet Factor employees Lee McGowan (business development manager from Hull) and Kris George (business development manager from Stockton) took part in the event organised by the Middlesbrough Club Foundation in collaboration with the Tigers Trust to raise much-needed funds for the charity.

Lee and Kris joined 26 other cyclists in the challenge with the aim of setting off at 8 am to ride over 104 miles and arrive before the Middlesbrough V Hull City Match at 8 pm. The convoy not only got there before the match but managed to cross the finish line with over an hour to spare! The two were supported on the day by their colleague Matty Farmery, who acted as a support vehicle for Kris, Lee and the convoy ensuring no rider was left behind and all 28 crossed the finish line.

Lee and Kris, who were raising money as a team, set a target of raising £600 for the foundation. Thanks to friends, family, colleagues, customers, and suppliers, they have surpassed their target and raised nearly £1000.

The Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation sits at the heart of the Middlesbrough and will use the funds to deliver bespoke programmes providing opportunities to raise aspirations and improve the life chances of our people across local communities. They work in some of the most disadvantaged areas of Teesside, engaging with those who are hard to reach through the delivery of inspiring sport, education, health and inclusion projects.

The Fleet Factors Community Fund was set up in 2022 to support charities like MFC Foundation. We established our Community Fund to provide a means to raise money through employee events directly supported by contributions from Fleet Factors and our key suppliers, with our aim being to support charities and causes in the communities our depots are located in. Since its creation, the Fleet Factors Community Fund has provided financial assistance to a wide range of community organisations and initiatives across the UK, including youth clubs, community centres, food banks, and mental health support groups.
